مصر والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية تخطان مساراً جديداً للمساعدات الثنائية

– وقعت مصر والولايات المتحدة هذا الأسبوع عدة اتفاقات
ثنائية بقيمة 268 مليون دولار أمريكي في تأكيد على بدء مرحلة جديدة من دعم
الشعب الأمريكي للأولويات المشتركة بين الولايات المتحدة ومصر في مجالات
النمو الاقتصادي، والزراعة، والسياحة، والحوكمة، وإدارة المياه والصرف
الصحي، والتعليم. وتأتي هذه الإتفاقات التاريخية
نتاجاً لمشاورات وثيقة بين الحكومتين وتوضح بالتفصيل بنود الدعم التعاوني
بين حكومتي مصر والولايات المتحدة.
وقد
صرّح القائم بالأعمال بالسفارة الأمريكية بالقاهرة توماس جولدبرجر قالاً
"تبرهن هذه البرامج الجديدة على التزام الشعب الأمريكي بالإستثمار في مصر
المزدهرة، لا سيما
بالنسبة لشبابها." وأضاف قائلاً "منذ عام 1975، ساعدت الولايات المتحدة في
بناء ازدهار أكثر استدامه في مصر من خلال تحقيق مكاسب في التعليم والصحة
والحوكمة والنمو الاقتصادي مما أدى إلى تحسن ملموس في حياة المصريين - وهو
الإرث الذي نأمل أن يستمر من خلال هذه الاتفاقات
الجديدة للمساعدة"
لأكثر من ثلاثة عقود، دعّمت الحكومة الأمريكية من خلال الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية (USAID)
التعاون الإنمائي الدولي بين الولايات المتحدة ومصر، عبر تنفيذ برامج بلغ
مجموعها حوالى 30 مليار دولار أمريكي منذ عام 1975، وساعدت بشكل مباشر في
خفض معدلات وفيات الرضع والأمهات، وتحسين قدرات القراءة في المراحل
الدراسية الأولية، وتطوير البنية الأساسية في مجالات
الاتصالات، والطاقة، وتوزيع المياه التي تصل إلى جميع المصريين تقريبا،
وكذلك في زيادة الإنتاجية الزراعية والمائية وفي بناء بيئة تجارية
واستثمارية أقوى بما يسهم في توفير فرص عمل أفضل ودخول أعلى.

Egypt, United States Chart New Direction in Bilateral Assistance
Cairo – Egypt and the United States signed $268 million in bilateral agreements this week that signify a new era in support from the American people for joint U.S.-Egypt priorities in economic growth, agriculture, tourism, governance, water and waste water management, and education. These historic agreements result from close consultation between governments and detail the terms for cooperative support between the Governments of Egypt and the United States.
“These new programs
demonstrate the commitment of the American people to investing in a
prosperous Egypt, particularly for its youth,” said Chargé d’Affaires of
the U.S. Embassy in Cairo Thomas H. Goldberger.
“Since 1975, the United States has helped to build a more sustainably
prosperous Egypt through gains in education, health, governance, and
economic growth that have tangibly improved the lives of Egyptians – a
legacy that we hope to continue through these
new assistance agreements.”
For
over three decades, the U.S. Government through the U.S. Agency for
International Development (USAID) has fostered international development
cooperation between
the United States and Egypt, implementing programs totaling nearly $30
billion since 1975, and has directly supported reductions in infant and
maternal mortality rates; improvement in reading abilities in the early
grades; development of telecommunications,
energy, and water infrastructure that reaches nearly all Egyptians;
increases in agriculture and water productivity; and a stronger trade
and investment environment leading to better jobs and incomes.
